Ahhh… and we’re back.
Now that the holiday seasons are good and over, I can finally continue working on my art. Creating is something that I absolutely NEED to do to keep my sanity. Justin and I finally found a time that we both were available and could shoot together. We kind of had this concept going for a while, but with a few variations. It was SO COLD the day we decided to shoot so this whole piece came together (well, the production part) in less than 3 minutes (or however long it took for my smoke bomb to fizzle out). That said, I’m actually pretty pleased with it and it has been “Explored” by flickr :)
I also did a few portraits after this with a Pentax K1000 that I was allowed to borrow from work, with a roll of black and white film. I am SO excited to see how those turn out. I have to find time to actually finish these rolls! I think I’m falling in love with film. <3

Also, in an attempt to get backlogged work done (working 7 day weeks, 9 hours a day is definitely not helping my cause), I am NOT BOOKING through New Years. Sorry if this inconveniences you in any way.

I recently had my 2nd photo ever to be accepted to Vogue Italia, which is a pretty big feat considering they’re tough as nails when it comes to the art. You are screened before even letting images into you portfolio!

It’s so cool that I can say that I’m listed on their website as a photographer.
One day I’ll be getting paid for this crap ;)

Nicole was wonderful enough to model for my project and endure massive amounts of smoke, so I did a nice portrait of her. I love this picture.

9/52 Metamorphosis
I almost killed a model today for the sake of art via smoke inhalation. haha

So a while back I sent my portfolio and applied to work with a really awesome agency as a stock artist, and I was approved!

I just sent in about 25 images as submissions and I’m really eager to hear back from them. Something really cool could come out of this :)

Crossing those fingers :)

Working more on this engagement shoot today! The computer is hurting my eyes, so let’s see how far I can actually push myself. Oh, Tylenol, where are you?
Also, I want to thank my cousin Jordan who is a photographer-in-training for assisting me on this shoot!

I don’t often do diptychs but I thought these two photos went well together. :)

Finishing up this family session that I shot a couple weeks ago! SUCH a funny family!

8/52 Blinding
“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, when one only remembers to turn on the light.”
Shot this with the light coming through my window. I wanted to give the feeling of stepping out of the darkness and freeing yourself from bad thoughts or depression. I’ve been feeling slightly put off by photography the last few days, but today I came into some new inspiration. Looking up!
